Work then Play

Mom and Dad came down to visit us this weekend.  Last year they came down and helped us with yard work and then went 4-wheeling.  So we thought we would do the same this year.  Early Saturday morning, Mom and I planted some bulbs and plants, while the boys cut up some wood and stacked it neatly by our fire pit.

Mom working the rototiller.

This is our finished project.  It looks kind of sad, but the plants will look better next year and the bulbs will be up in the spring.

Then we set off to find a good place to go 4-wheeling.  We parked at a near by gas station and set off to find some trails.  It seems like everyone was out either 4-wheeling or on dirt bikes.
We found a nice picnic spot by Little Ossipee River
Check out the beautiful leaves.
So, here is the most exciting and entertaining part of mom and dads visit.  On the trails we were on there were these huge puddles everywhere, but then there would be a trail that went out around the puddle.  Being not as experienced as mom and dad and not wanting to get stuck, Jon and I would go around the puddle.  Well on this particular one, mom and dad decided to go through the puddle thinking it couldn't be THAT deep.  I turned around to see if mom and dad were behind us and all I see is half of the 4wheeler up in the air and mom diving (okay....falling) into the "puddle" which was really a small pond.  From dads point of view he said that he turned around to see if mom was still on the back and he looked to see if she was in the puddle and all he saw was her yellow helmet so he grabbed her and pulled her up.  Mom was totally submerged in this swamp and didn't even touch the bottom.  She made it over to the edge, dad backed himself out and everyone was okay.  Except mom was soaking wet and muddy.

This is the infamous "puddle" or pond that mom fell into.

And this is mom, being a good sport and laughing.  She was covered from head to foot in muddy cold water.  Luckily she had an extra dry sweatshirt, but she had to ride all the way back in wet pants. Thanks for being such a good sport mom!  We had so much fun and can't wait to do it again next year.

I showed my mom (Sue) and my Aunt Bonnie this post yesterday. I thought they were going to pee their pants laughing at your mom. Seriously, I would have loved to have gotten a picture of THAT!!
