Quirks

So here is the quirk challenge that is being passed around.  My sister-in-law Betsy challenged me to think of 6 quirks that I have and then post them.  Here are my six:

1.  I hate making phone calls, especially to people I don't know and avoid it at all costs.  For example, making appointments or calling businesses of any kind.

2. I have to have it totally quiet and nothing going on around me when I am reading or I cannot process anything that I have read.  I can't tune anything out.

3.  I cannot stand having people touch under my chin (like where a double chin would be.)  Not many people ever really DO touch under my chin, but if they do, it gives me chills.

4.  Now that I straighten my hair, I can't leave the house with curly hair!  Only people that I know really well have ever seen me with my hair down and curly.  I am very self-conscious and have some issues with my curly hair.

5.  The "Bug Check."  I freak out at any kind of bug and have since I was really little.  It's not that I just don't like them, I FREAK OUT about them.  If I stay in any bed other than my own, I do a "bug check" to make sure there are no bugs in the bed.

6.  And last but not least is the one that EVERYONE knows about.  I check my teeth after every meal to make sure I don't have anything in them.  If I don't have a mirror on me I use the butter knife.  I used to try and do it discreetly but now I don't.

It was hard to think of six....but I am sure I have many more that I just don't realize.
What are some of YOUR quirks??

Happy Belated Birthday Nora

I know I suck!  I always forget the nieces birthdays!  We wish we could've been there to celebrate, it looks like you had so much fun.  Jon said that you may have misunderstood Nora when she said she wanted a puppy party...she REALLY meant she wanted a puppy!

In Memory of...

This past weekend Jon's dad and sister came to stay Friday night, and then early Saturday morning we left to make the trek to Bethel.  For the past three years the Bell family has been involved in a benefit golf tournament.  In the years past it was in memory of his grandfather and this year it was for his grandmother and proceeds went to Hospice.  So while the boys golfed, Malissa and I had a wonderful brunch and then hung out at the Bethel Inn Tavern waiting for the golfers to finish.  We had a nice meal and Jon won a prize for being closest to the pin.  It was a long but very fun day.  It was nice to see family and catch up.  I even brought my camera, but have no pictures to show.  We missed you being here Mom Bell and Erin!

Seriously!

Does everyone but Jon and I have Columbus day off??  That is totally NOT fair.  Columbus Dumbus.

Fall

Fall is NOT my favorite time of year.  Yes I agree it is beautiful, but I just cannot seem to get past the thought that after the colorful leaves everything dies and then the snow comes.... and doesn't stop for a very long time.  I would have to say spring is a much happier time for me.  These red leaves are beautiful though!

These little buggers

Have been all over the place these past two weeks.  I remember last year this happened too.  They are all over the outside of our house and a couple (by a couple I mean 20) manage to get in the house.  I guess it could be a lot worse.  Ladybugs are the only kind of bugs that I don't mind sharing my house with.  And they don't last very long.  They are starting to disappear already.
Here is just one section of our ceiling.

I was once a queen TOO

Copying Bridgette's blog....... I was once a dairy queen too.  It was also my first job and it was the best job ever.  Of course I didn't realize this at the time.  I worked there for a LONG time......eight wonderful years.  We did have fun times until our beloved boss Mrs. B sold the DQ and then the fun times stopped.  She was the best boss.  It was a sad day when she was diagnosed with cancer and even sadder when I received the news about her passing yesterday.  She will definitely be missed by every DQer who worked for her. I wish I could've come along to enjoy a DQ treat with you guys!

Work then Play

Mom and Dad came down to visit us this weekend.  Last year they came down and helped us with yard work and then went 4-wheeling.  So we thought we would do the same this year.  Early Saturday morning, Mom and I planted some bulbs and plants, while the boys cut up some wood and stacked it neatly by our fire pit.

Mom working the rototiller.

This is our finished project.  It looks kind of sad, but the plants will look better next year and the bulbs will be up in the spring.

Then we set off to find a good place to go 4-wheeling.  We parked at a near by gas station and set off to find some trails.  It seems like everyone was out either 4-wheeling or on dirt bikes.
We found a nice picnic spot by Little Ossipee River
Check out the beautiful leaves.
So, here is the most exciting and entertaining part of mom and dads visit.  On the trails we were on there were these huge puddles everywhere, but then there would be a trail that went out around the puddle.  Being not as experienced as mom and dad and not wanting to get stuck, Jon and I would go around the puddle.  Well on this particular one, mom and dad decided to go through the puddle thinking it couldn't be THAT deep.  I turned around to see if mom and dad were behind us and all I see is half of the 4wheeler up in the air and mom diving (okay....falling) into the "puddle" which was really a small pond.  From dads point of view he said that he turned around to see if mom was still on the back and he looked to see if she was in the puddle and all he saw was her yellow helmet so he grabbed her and pulled her up.  Mom was totally submerged in this swamp and didn't even touch the bottom.  She made it over to the edge, dad backed himself out and everyone was okay.  Except mom was soaking wet and muddy.

This is the infamous "puddle" or pond that mom fell into.

And this is mom, being a good sport and laughing.  She was covered from head to foot in muddy cold water.  Luckily she had an extra dry sweatshirt, but she had to ride all the way back in wet pants. Thanks for being such a good sport mom!  We had so much fun and can't wait to do it again next year.

Little Ginny Lynn

Last weekend Jon and I went to Brewer to visit family.  Jon had yet to meet our newest niece, Ginny.  It was a rainy weekend but we made the best of it by playing games, visiting, and eating with family.  You may wonder why Jon is wearing a tank top while it was rainy.  He was worried about Ginny spitting up on his shirt so he took it off...haha.  He is so funny. I love seeing all of the nieces and hanging out with the family.

Our New Truck

We finally made the purchase.  Looking/buying a car is not one of my favorite things to do, but I think we made a great choice.  It has all the things we were looking for and more for the price we were willing to spend.  Jon did most of the work looking and found a great deal.  We are glad to say goodbye to the Jeep.
